제목 Oxidation of methanol to dimethoxy methane on vanadium-based catalysts
초록 The synthesis of dimethoxy methane (DMM) by oxidation of methanol was investigated on the V2O5-based catalysts by changing the supporting materials. DMM is one of the candidates for diesel fuel additive to enhance the combustion efficiency, and it can be produced using metal oxide catalysts such as V2O5 or perovskite materials. In the present investigation, the vanadium-based catalysts with different supports such as Al2O3, zeolites, SiO2, mesoporous silica and MgAl2O4 were tested for maximize the DMM selectivity. The solid acid catalysts such as Al2O3 and zeolites showed a higher dimethyl ether (DME) selectivity due to the enhanced dehydration of methanol, and the proper catalytic system for DMM production is found to be a catalyst having a lower acid site density and higher distribution of V2O5 species. The different catalytic performances on V2O5/support were explained with the results of XRD, NH3-TPD and BET analyses.
