In our previous study, we synthesized UV-crosslinkable acrylic pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs) having benzophenone moiety in polymer backbone with varying 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate. We could find that with increasing 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate in PSAs, peel strength and probe tack were dramatically decreased and SAFT was increased at low levels of UV dose. In this study we prepared acrylic PSAs with butyl acrylate, acrylic acid and 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate, and then blended with polymerized P-36, benzophenone derivative having unsaturated C=C double bond, as a photoinitiator. The results of PSA performance in this study were similar to previous study that PSAs having higher contents of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate showed increased probe tack and peel strength. But after UV irradiate on PSAs having higher contents of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate and polymerized P-36 blends, probe tack and peel strength decrease. And UV-crosslinking behaviors of the PSAs were also monitored by FTIR-ATR. |
