Stimuli-responsive amphiphilic copolymer aggregates have been well investigated because of their high interest in many scientific areas, including biotechnology and optics. In this work, we reported thermo- and photo-dual responsive micelles in aqueous solution by amphiphilic block copolymers composed of a hydrophilic poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) block and a hydrophobic poly(propylene oxide) (PPO) block copolymer which introduced spiropyran residues to PPO segment as a side chain to probe the characteristics of polymer. The novel copolymers were characterized by 1H-NMR and UV-Vis reversible properties of copolymers were determined by Contact Angle, UV-Vis spectrophotometer and DLS measurement. Graft copolymer, consisting of spiropyran units, behaves as a reversible shift of absorption spectra under UV irradiation. These spiropyran were converted to the colored merocyanine(MC) from under UV irradiation revert to colorless SP form. |
