Dendrimers are particularly well-suited for hosting noble nanoparticles with well-controllable size, stability and solubility owing to their fairly uniform composition and well-defined nanostructures with selective gates. However, few reports on the applications of hydroxyl groups terminated dendrimers have been involved in the relative field. Hyperbranched polyglycerol (HBP) representing a typical dendrimer contain a large amount of terminated hydroxyl groups, which provide abundant functional groups for the creation of inorganic oxides nanostructures via a sol-gel process. In our current study, HBP was firstly synthesized by means of a anionic ring-opening polymerization. Subsequently, a sol-gel process was carried out in the presence of HBP and titanium (Ⅳ) isopropoxide. The resulting titania nanostructures exhibit controllable morphologies from solid sphere, hollow sphere to tube depending on the simple changes of reaction conditions such as concentration of precursor and water. |
