A systematic investigation of ionic liquids as effective draw solutes for forward osmosis |
초록 |
Forward osmosis (FO) is a promising technology for desalination. Environmentally benign ionic liquids (ILs) are attractive FO draw solutes. The FO performance of ILs was investigated wherein water flux (Jv) and reverse solute flux (Js) were evaluated using commercially available HTI-CTA membrane under FO and PRO modes, using 0.3M draw solutions and DI water as feed. Results revealed that ILs [BMIM]Br, [N4444]AOc, and [BMIM]AOc generated higher reverse flux selectivities (Jv/Js) due to their low Js. This suggests their potential as effective FO drawing agents.
