Electron injection material (EIM) is very important to improving the PCE and long-term stability of an OPV cell that utilizes a high work function cathode. In this scenario, a novel EIM i.e., PO-TAZ is designed and synthesized through an effective and yet simple combination of triarylphosphine oxide and 1,3,5-triazine unit for OPV application. PO-TAZ remarkably tailors the work function of the metal/metal-oxides and also further it can be successfully used as dipole layer. Consequently, insertion of PO-TAZ layer leads to a state-of-the-art 10.04% and 9.93% for single-stack bulk heterojunction inverted blend structures comprising PTB7-Th and PTB7 as donors respectively, and [6,6]-phenyl-C71-butyric acid methyl ester as acceptor. More importantly, the devices with PO-TAZ exhibited high stability retaining 88% of the original efficiency compared to the devices without PO-TAZ after 60 days. |
