제목 Synthesis of activated carbon from asphaltene  and adsorption
초록 Asphaltene is by-product through petro-chemical industry. It is mainly used as road packing material. In this research, asphaltene was modified to achieve high value in industrial field. Dyes in wastewater are an environmental problem due to colored effluent. Methylene blue dye causes eye burns, which may be responsible for permanent injury to the eyes of human. Activated carbon was prepared from asphaltene by chemical activation with various char/KOH ratio for high surface area and porosity. The prepared activated carbon has high specific surface area, a lot of mesopore and micropore, many functional group by oxygen. It can be used by absorbent for adsorption. Concentrations of methylene blue in water was analyzed by UV-spectrometer analysis. We confirm that activated carbon from asphaltene could be used absorbent.
