제목 Transparent Laminate Nanocomposite Films with Chitin Nanofiber Networks Impregnated with Siloxane Resin
초록 Chitin is the second most abundant polysaccharide after cellulose. Chitin exists in the form of nanofibers as the basic building blocks. Considerable efforts have been made in developing chitin nanofibers reinforced transparent nanocomposites. Conventionally used methods to create such nanocomposites relied on the processing of chitin via chemical and mechanical treatment. Herein, we introduce a facile route to create a transparent film of chitin nanofibers using a solution of chitin/hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP). Evaporation-induced self-assembly (EISA) of the chitin/HFIP solution yield a large-area chitin film with a low CTE (12.6 ppm/oC). The structure-property-processing relationship of chitin film was studied by using different chitin polymorphs, solution concentration, and film processing method. With the chitin nanofiber film and a typical organo-siloxane hybrid material as the matrix, we fabricated a transparent laminate composite film and characterized its basic properties.
