Phospholipid is a major component in all cell membranes in the form of lipid bilayers. It contains hydrophobic tails and a hydrophilic head, which is easy to form liposomes. Based on this point, the synthesized phospholipid derivatives were purified by recrystallization and flash chromatography. Phospholipids contain amino groups, which is easy to modify, such as to graft with peptides or even to attach ligands for targeted drug delivery. It can self assemble as nano-sized liposomes with drug inside, and have good biocompatibility for a unique nanomedicine carrier, makes this as an important system for controlled drug delivery applications. |
