Release Behavior of Carvedilol by Manufacturing Method and Acidifier |

In this study, we demonstrated the release behavior of carvedilol with the content of Kollidon K-30 (PVP K-30) and the effect of citric acid and fumaric acid as acidififiers on the release behavior of drug. The release behavior of the tablets was compared with Dilatrand® in the simulated gastric fluid (pH 1.2). Differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), X-ray diffraction (XRD), fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) was measured for the physicochemical characterization of the tablets. In the case of carvedilol blended with Kollidon K-30 ratio of 1:5 was relatively higher than the others and the dissolution rate of tablets manufactured via lyophilization and rotary evaporator was higher than physical mixture. The dissolution rate of containing drug acidifiers were more pronounced. But, it was attributed by the rank of acidifiers leading to the decrease of dissolution rate.
