Multiwall carbon nanotube with anchored phenol structures: Preparation, Characterization and its influence on the properties of phenolic resin composites |
초록 |
Surface functionalization of multiwall carbon nanotube was carried out by introducing ylides groups containing anchored phenol structures on the surface. The functionalized nanotube is characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and Raman spectroscopy. The formation of azomethine ylides is further confirmed from the peak at 1376 cm-1 and a small hump at 1279 cm-1 that’s are due to –CNC stretching and –CN stretching of tertiary amine group. Raman spectroscopic studies further corroborates that the surface functionalization does not affect the basic crystal domain size of the nanotubes. Thermogravimetric analysis exhibits higher weight loss supporting the chemical functionalization. The functionalized carbon nanotubes were then incorporated in phenolic resin (Novalac resin) and its influence on the curing kinetics, flexural strength and electrical conductivity were determined. |
