Fabrication of SiO2/AuNPs/TiO2 nanostructures for efficient light absorption and their use in the Dye sensitized solar cells |

SiO2 coated AuNPs/TiO2 nanoparticles (SiO2/AuNPs/TiO2) were fabricated to increase the light absorption in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). AuNPs were organized on TiO2 particles through unique method using α-synuclein (αS) protein as adherer. SiO2 shell was coated on AuNPs/TiO2 structures to protect the AuNPs from being dissolved in the iodide-based electrolytes. Underlying AuNPs in SiO2/AuNPs/TiO2 structures exhibited localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) effect for enhanced light absorption. Moreover, Ag NPs layer on the TiO2 particles enables the working electrode to use broad solar spectrum. The novelty of this research suggests new guidance to design of nanomaterials |
