Electron beam (EB) irradiation, a simple method for polymer curing, owns lots of advantages such as absence of various noxious additives, high speed, uniformity, and capability for heat-shrinkable and biomedical materials. In this study, polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS)-based composite films containing 1.0-3.0 wt% multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) were manufactured using a solution-casting and EB-based curing technique. Structural and physical characterizations including Raman spectroscopy, dynamic mechanical analysis and thermal analysis were carried out as a function of the MWCNT content. The electrical property and performance of MWCNT/PDMS composite films as electric heating elements were also examined as functions of the MWCNT content and applied voltage. The electric heating behavior of the composite films was investigated by taking account of temperature response rapidity, maximum temperature, and electric power efficiency at different applied voltages. |
