Electromagnetic interference shielding efficiency of recycled carbon fibers |

In this study, an electroless plating method was used to improve electromagnetic interference shielding efficiency (EMI-SE) of the recycled carbon fibers (RCFs). In order to observe the effects of structural change on the EMI-SE of the composites, the RCFs were treated with different post heat treatment conditions. The surface structures of recycled and virgin carbon fibers were observed by means of XRD and SEM. Energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) attached with the SEM was used for elemental analysis. Multi-purpose resistivity meter with software was used to verify the electrical properties by using a 4-pin probe. The EMI-SE of the composites was measured by vector network analyzer. As a result, the electrical conductivity of the composites was increased after post heat-treatment. Therefore, it was found that using the recycled carbon fibers for electromagnetic wave shielding materials is a good way to have economics. |
