제목 Remote-Controllable Liquid Crystalline Amphiphile Using Photo-Isomerization of Azobenzene Mesogen
초록 Depend on molecular structures and organizations and conformations, the optical, physical, electrical properties of the materials are changed. The phases of Liquid crystal can represent physical properties each other. We newly designed and synthesized the amphiphilic molecule (AZ-OH). The AZ-OH consist of the azobenzene mesogen and alkyl chain and flexible ethylene oxide chain. The packing structure and organizations of molecules was analyzed by 1D wide-angle X-ray diffraction and 2D WAXD. Since the molecule consists of azobenzene mesogen, the photo-isomerization occurred and therefore the molecular packing structure was changed. When UV light is irradiated, the solidus state AZ-OH was changed to liquidus phase by trans-cis photo-isomerization of azobenzene mesogen. This property was demonstrated for smart window.
