제목 Preparation and properties of Ethylene Vinyl Acetate / layered silicate nanocomposite for cable insulating material
초록 There are many demands for more efficient and more environment-friendly flame retardants in the polymer industry. Among them, recently, polymer layered silicate nanocomposites give rise to a tremendous interest for excellent flame retardancy even with the addition of a minimal amount of clay. In this work, EVA/layered silicates were compounded in a twin-screw extruder by a two-step melt compounding of three components, i.e., ethylene vinyl acetate, maleic anhydride grafted ethylene vinyl acetatepolypropylene(EVAgMA), and organically modified clay. We investigated the morphology, mechanical property and flame retardancy by dispersion and contents of layered silicate in EVA/layered silicate nanocomposites. We also examined the synergy effect of flame retardancy through introduction of organoclays to the magnesium hydroxide (MDH).
