BDPABF was synthesized from a 2-bromo-7-(diphenylamino)-9H-fluoren-9-one by reductive dimerization using Lawesson's reagent. Its optical band gap was measured to be 2.34 eV using the onset wavelength of its solid thin film, while its ionization potential was determined to be 5.59 eV using photoelectron spectroscopy. The fluorescence quenching property of BDPABF was investigated by Stern-Volmer quenching experiments. By adding the BDPABF to P3HT solutions in chloroform, the photoluminescence intensity was decreased dramatically. The calculated Stern-Volmer quenching constant (Ksv) was 5.3 × 104 M-1, and this result shows that BDPABF has high binding affinity toward P3HT. The photovoltaic devices were fabricated using P3HT as electron donating material and BDPABF as electron accepting material at various composition weight ratios. The device achieved highest power conversion efficiency of 0.27% with Voc = 0.71 V, Jsc = 1.29 mA/cm2 and FF = 0.29 after thermal annealing 100 °C 5 min. |
