Isothermal crystallization kinetics of polypropylene/amine functionalized graphene oxide nanocomposites |

Pristine and alkyl amine modified graphene oxides (GO) were used to prepare advanced polymer nanocomposite by means of the most simple and cost effective melt processing route. The polymer matrix used in this study was polypropylene and the fillers were pristine and amine functionalized GO’s. The effect of amine chain length and the crystallization temperature on the isothermal crystallization behavior of PP was investigated using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). It has been observed that both the pristine and amine functionalized GO slightly affects the crystallization, which can be attributed to the nucleating effect of GO on the crystal formation in PP. Other parameters such as the Avrami exponent and the fold surface free energy of crystallization of PP chains in the nanocomposites were obtained in order to determine the effect of GO on them. |
