제목 Preparation of hybrid nanocomposite by gamma ray radiation
초록 We suggest a new synthesis method for an organic/inorganic hybrid nanocomposite that has excellent physical properties. Free radical polymerization occurs on the surface of various particles which include spherical particles; SiO2, rod-like particles; imogolite and halloysite, plate-like particles; clay and graphene. In an aqueous solution, the hydroxide groups on the surfaces can be changed to peroxide groups by gamma ray radiation. These peroxide groups changed to oxide radicals after the temperature was increased above 40 ºC, which acted as both initiators and crosslinkers. A 3D network was ultimately formed after propagation from the surfaces and sporadic polymerization between the radicals. Chemical bonding between the particles and polymer was simulated by a cluster model and characterized by wide area Raman spectroscopy. The nanocomposites which have particles embedded in a polymer matrix can be characterized by x-ray scattering, light scattering, and mechanical test methods.
