A web-based process control training tool kit was developed for students and operators with a minimal amount of experience in process control and operation, The web-based process control training tool kit can enhance training and learning by integrating the theoretical abstraction of process control course. It provides a realistic and interactive human interface similar to that found in actual control rooms for chemical, refining, power generation and other types of operating plants. Diverse process models included in the kit assure that a variety of control techniques and methodologies (feedback control, feed-forward control, cascade control, etc.) can be operated and simulated. When used in a classroom with students with no plant experience, it provides an excellent tool for demonstrating real world operating procedures and control loop behaviors. The web-based interface permits one to run the kit from anywhere an adequate internet connection is available. |
