Although a number of effective catalysts for various reactions have been introduced up to date, it still has been one of the most significant challenges to exploit the high-performance catalysts allowing excellent activity with large surface area in various solvent. We introduce a catalytic nanocomposite with densely packed hydrophobic catalytic NPs (i.e., TOABr-Pd) to such an extent as to be well-dispersed in nonpolar media. On the other hand, additional coating of NH2-functionalized polymers (i.e., poly(ethylene imine)) onto hydrophobic NP-coated GONs induced high dispersion in alcohol and aqueous media. Considering that a variety of well-defined catalytic NPs can be synthesized using hydrophobic ligands in nonpolar media, our approach provides a basis for designing a variety of high-performance catalysts (in the Suzuki-Miyaura coupling and TMB oxidation reactions) with remarkable catalytic surface area, universal dispersion in organic/aqueous media, and high recycling stability. |
