Recently, most of steel companies are suffered from the economic recession and an excessive supply from China, but the demands for galvanized steels sheets have been steadily increased from the industries. In this paper, the recent progress of galvanizing and coil coating facilities and new products activities are described regarding to automotive, appliance and construction markets. In automotive application, new galvanizing technologies have been developing including AHSS, UHSS, HPF and TWIP steels. In addition, highly corrosion resistant steel - Zn-Mg-Al coated steel has been developing to apply for automotive. Liquid metal embrittlement of zinc coated steel is known to be a sereious problem to be solved. For appliances and construction, various types with functional properties are reviewed and newly installed PVD demo-plant will be introduced briefly. |
