제목 Investigation of particles size dependency of optical response and molecular chain orientation of magnetic/polymer nano-composites
초록 Composites with magnetic particles have has been actively studied because of various applications such as micro-electronic devices, storage materials and optics. However these studies have been based on magnetic properties of magnetic materials. In this study, we have synthesized spherical and ellipsoidal nano particles and studied the effects of size, shape on molecular chain orientation of matrix polymer.
Ni-Zn ferrite nano particles have been synthesized by chemical method and then dispersed homogeneously into polymer matrix such as hydrogen silsesquioxane and polyimide for nano-composites. The size and shape of magnetic particles have been controlled by the concentration of mixed surfactants and mole ratio of anionic surfactant to cationic surfactant. For stable dispersion of nano particles, surface charges have been introduced by applying various acids. The shape, size, dispersity and structure of nano particles have been analyzed by transmission electron microscopy and x-ray diffraction. Magnetic properties have been measured by vibrating sample magnetometer. superparamagentic property with 5~6 nm and ferrimagnetic property with more than 10 nm of nano particle were observed. Optical response of nano-composite was investigated using prism coupler. And molecular chain orientation was investigated using x-ray diffraction and near edge x-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) spectroscopy. The optical response and molecular chain orientation of nano-composite with superparamagnetic particles were different from those of nano-composite with ferrimagetic particles.
