The use of the intrinsically conducting polymers as sensing elements in NO2 sensors is an intensive area of research because of their high sensitivity on changes of electrical or optical properties when exposed to diverse types of gases. In this study, the characterization of a Quartz Crystal Microbalance(QCM) sensor for NO2, SO2 detection with the sensitive layer made of a thin films of polyaniline(EB). The resonant frequency was tested using a made measurement system for high sensitivity and selectivity. The polyaniline powder dissolved in solvent and its coated on 8MHz AT-cut commercial quartz crystal. The characterization coating on quartz surface measured by SEM and AFM. The frequency variation by toxic gases adsorption and desorption response was measured. |
