Fabrication of form stable coaxially electrosupn nanofibrous mats with fatty acid eutectics as a phase change material |

The thermal properties and thermal reliability of capric acid (CA) and palmitic acid (PA) mixture as phase change material (PCM) for low temperature latent heat thermal energy storage (LHTES) was studied. Form stable PCM composite nanofibers was fabricated with eutectic mixtures of CA and PA(73/27 by weight), prepared through melt-blending, in the core layer, and polyvinyldiene fluoride(PVDF) in the shell layer, respectively. The eutectics was melt blended with nano sized fumend silica to increase its melt viscosity and the feed rates of melt eutectics of CA/PA were varied from 0.006 to 0.024 mL/h while shell feed rate of PVDF solution was kept constant at 1.0 mL/h in the electrospinning process. The applied voltage and working distance were maintained constant at 12 kV and 17 cm, respectively. The good core/shell structure of nanofibers was observed by water contact angle measurement and the transmission-electron microscopy (TEM). |
