제목 Graphite coating on Grey Cast Iron of Internal Combustion Engine to improve the friction and wear resistance by LPCVD
초록 Carbon films were formed on the grey cast iron by low pressure CVD method with the pyrolysis of CH4-gas using H2 as carrier gas at Ar-gas environment. This thin film may influence both the coating and the coating/substrate interface, and it is effective for improving lubrication .Thin carbon coatings deposited in low-pressure conditions, can provide excellent low-friction and wear-protection properties in dry sliding conditions. The graphite coating was characterized by Raman spectroscopy with the variation of methane flow rate, growth time, and growth temperature. Then, the lowest coefficient of friction was obtained on the graphite coating surface in dry sliding conditions after the friction test. It also results improvement in wear resistance after wear test. This is mainly due to graphite coating, acting it as a self- lubricating agent in boundary lubrication regime in dry conditions.
