Use of Calcium as an Interconnecting Layer in Soluble Tandem Organic Light Emitting Diodes |

Intensive researches on organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) have been conducted because of their promising applications to solid-state lighting devices. Especially, finding the suitable ICL for solution-processed tandem polymeric light emitting diodes (PLEDs) will pave a way to commercialize high efficiency OLEDs at low cost. Among a few candidate materials, many researchers have been concentrating on employing organic conductive n-doped layers including low-work-function alkaline metals such as Li, Cs, etc. Even though the Calcium is also one of the most promising candidates as efficient n-dopant in OLED devices, only few report the use of Ca as an ICL for tandem OLEDs. In our experiments, we used Ca as an ICL for small-molecule tandem OLED. Furthermore, Ca doped organic layer is used as an ICL between solution-processed emitting unit and vacuum-processed emitting unit. This result suggests the possibility to employ reactive n-type metal dopant in ICL in tandem OLED device. |
