제목 Cassie equation Review : Wetting property measurements of chemically heterogeneous smooth surface
초록 Cassie equations have been used in wetting for decades, but the limitations of the Cassie equation due to various applications of wetting researches are being investigated through a variety of experimental and theoretical studies. In this study, the contact angle of water to a surface that is flat and partially chemically heterogeneous (silica surfaces with hexagonal array circular patches of 20 nm thick trichloro-(1H,1H,2H,2H-perfluorooctyl) silane layers) was measured. Patterns with different patch sizes and spacings were utilized to investigate changes in static contact angle due to chemical heterogeneity. We have found that as the diameter of the patch increases, the deviation between the measured value and the Cassie equation increases and the water droplet does not retain its shape. And the deviation from the Cassie equation was observed when the ratio of the diameter of the patch to the base diameter of the droplet was higher than ~0.17.
