To improve the dispersion properties of silica during the process of manufacturing organic/inorganic coating materials, the surface of silica was modified. γ-Methacryloxypropyl trimethoxysiliane was used as a silane coupling agent, and the modified silica (M-silica) was synthesized after silica and silane coupling agent in toluene were refluxed in the ratio of 1:2 at 100℃ for 24h. M-silica was characterized by TGA and FT-IR. M-silica was added to methylene chloride and the solution was ultrasonificated. At this point, acrylate monomer was added by the ratio of 0.5, 1, 1.5, and 2wt%, and it was possible to prepare each coating solution containing tetramethyl tetra(ethoxyacrylate)cyclotetrasiloxane and Irgacure 784 as an initiator. Coating solution was drop-casted on iron plate and photo-curing was conducted with mercury lamp (80W/cm) for 30min. The corrosion and wear resistance of each coating on iron will be discussed. |
