제목 | Synthesis and Optical Properties of Organo-Soluble Hyperbranched Polybenzthiazoles from A3 and B2 Monomers |
초록 | Although fused aromatic-heterocyclic rigid-rod polybenzazoles such as polybenzthiazole (PBZT), polybenzoxazole (PBO), and polybenzimidazole (PBI) possess excellent thermal and mechanical properties, as well as their optical and electronic characteristics, their inherent insolubility in common organic solvents hampers their applications.1 On the other hand, dendrimers and hyperbranched polymers are attracting a lot of attention due to their distinctly different properties compared to their linear counterparts.2 For example, they have better solubility and compared to their linear analogs. Due to the easiness in preparation, hyperbranched polymers are better suited for the practical applications. However, the synthesis of ABx monomers still involves several reaction sequences. To be even more practical synthesis of hyperbranched polymers, mass production with low cost is required so that hyperbranched polymers from commercially available A3 and B2 or A2 and B3 could be the most promising approach. In this case, control of reaction is key to prevent gelation. Thus, organo-soluble hyperbranched PBZTs were synthesized by self-controlled reaction using different monomer solubility in the reaction medium. Resulting PBZTs were soluble in most of aprotic solvents such as NMP, DMAc, DMF, DMSO, and etc. Although they are not protonated in basic solvent, their absorption maxima were blue-shifted due to kink structure of repeating units. However, their excited states are more stable than their linear counterparts indicating that hyperbranched structure could efficiently prevent excimer formation. References 1. Wolfe, J. E. Encyl.
