제목 The effect of various metal electrodes on the IPMCs actuation performance
초록 Ionic Polymer Metal Composite(IPMC) is a kind of EAP that bends in response to the electrical activation as a result of the movement of mobile cations in the polymer network. IPMCs are composed of electrolytes and metal electrodes. Ion-exchange membranes, such as Nafion and Flemion, are used as the electrolytes. Noble metals, such as gold and platinum, are used as metal electrodes. The actuation performance of the IPMCs is affected by the membrane and metal electrode property.
The purpose of this study is to characterize IPMCs prepared by various metal electrodes. poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoro propylen) (PVDF-co-HFP) and poly(ethylene-alt-tetrafluoroethylene) (ETFE) - g -PSSA were used as ion exchange membranes. Au, Pt, Pd, Cu were used as metal electrodes1. IPMCs were manufactured by impregnation/reduction. In accordance with the formation of metal electrodes, the difference in the surface morphology and the cross section of IPMCs were observed by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM)2. The actuation behaviors of IPMCs were measured by the laser displacement meter.
