Supramolecular complexes of (+) poly[{methyl(1-naphthyl)silylene}-(o-phenylene)methylene] [Mn = 8,200 (polymer A) and 336,000 (polymer B)] and (-) polymer [Mn = 356,000 (polymer C)] [molecular weight of the polymers, which were calibrated by polystyrene standard in tetrahydrofuran (THF)], with β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) were prepared at 25 and 68 °C in THF-water (1 : 1 in volume). The products were isolated by quenching the solution to 0 °C, concentration and filtration of the formed precipitate, washing with water to remove uncomplexed β-CD, and finally by freeze-drying, and the properties of the separated complexes were studied. The properties of chiral sense induced showed the different phenomenon dependent on the molecular weight and (+)/(-) polymer. Induction of chiral sense to the isotactic polymers, by supramolecular interaction with β-CD, was established by SEC, weighing of isolated complex, 1H-NMR, circular dichroism, and fluorescence studies |
