The goal of this study is to report an effective method using a small-molecule non-volatile ionic liquids (ILs) for enhancing the electrical conductivity of Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) thin films. For this purpose, we studied the effects of different anions of 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium (EMIM) based ILs such as tetrafluoroborate (BF4), trifluoromethanesulfonate (OTF), dicyanamide (DCA), and thiocyanate (SCN). ILs were dropped to cover the surface of PEDOT:PSS thin films for 10 min. Post-treated PEDOT:PSS thin films were rinsed with DI water and dried at 90oC for 10min. The anions effect on the enhancement of electrical conductivity was consistent with the softness parameter, size, electronegativity, etc. Moreover, ILs induced enhanced electrical conductivity of PEDOT:PSS thin films were characterized through Raman spectra, XPS, AFM, electrical conductivity. These results demonstrate that post-treatment is a promising approach to enhance the electrical conductivity of PEDOT:PSS thin films. |
