제목 Effect of Rare-Earth and Transition Metal Doping on the CO Oxidation Activity of Ceria
초록 Ceria (CeO2) has drawn great research interest due to their extensive use in several environmental, energy-related, and other catalytic applications. The importance of ceria had primarily emerged from its oxygen storage capacity (OSC) and redox catalytic property. Doping rare-earth (RE) metal or transition metal (TM) into ceria has been used to modify the properties of ceria for technologically important catalysis, electrolyte, and various applications.
In this study, we examine ceria doped with various RE metals and TMs to search for the suitable CO oxidation activity. We synthesized Ce1-xRExO2 and Ce1-xTMxO2 nanoparticles by EDTA-citrate complexing method (modified Pechini) which is capable of producing highly pure and homogeneous nano-powders. Then, the nanoparticles were characterized by XRD, SEM, and SEM-EDS. The surface area was evaluated by BET measurement and the catalytic efficiency of RE and TM-doped ceria for CO oxidation was measured by gas chromatography (GC). Our results will be helpful for effectively exploring the RE and TM dopant candidates and the optimal concentration for the enhanced catalytic activity on ceria.
