Recently, the world is suffering from COVID-19. The pandemic crisis occurs economic and environmental problems. From the economic perspective, the crisis leads to expanding the fluctuation of global oil prices. Moreover, disposal plastic usage is soaring because of the social distancing and quarantine. To manage economic and environmental risk, we must be responded to the fluctuation of oil prices and mitigate the disposal plastic usage. The lignocellulose-derived chemicals can provide promising options to overcome these issues. The producing products from white birch should be replaceable to fossil-derived plastic and evadable from oil price fluctuation. We select 2,3-butanediol and adipic acid as biomass-derived products. Finally, we conduct techno-economic analysis and life cycle assessment to identify major contributors for minimum selling price and environmental pollution. |
