Ion-Imprinted Periodic Mesoporous Organosilica Hybrid Materials for Selective Recognition of Cobalt (II) ions |

A novel ion-imprinted organic-inorganic mesoporous silica hybrid materials was designed and synthesized by combined surface imprinting technique with sol-gel process for the preparation of a new Co(II)-imprinted ligand core integrated organic-inorganic hybrid mesoporous silica sorbent with periodically ordered array for the selective adsorption of Co(II) from aqueous solution. After template Co(II) was removed by HNO3 solution treatment, the residing of the imprinted core in the pore walls of the hybrid material was characterized by XRD, FTIR, solid-state 29Si, 13C CP MAS NMR and elemental analysis. The effect of pH and adsorption time were studied by batch adsorption method, respectively. From the adsorption results, it was found that imprinted adsorbent shows a selective recognition affinity towards Co(II) over the competitive metal ions. The imprinted sorbent offered a fast kinetics for the Co(II) adsorption and the sorbent could be used repeatedly. |
