In this study, a manufacturing method of LDPE-based carbon fibers was studied using a hybrid stabilization technique. The LDPE precursor fibers were primarily cross-linked with the various conditions, and then they have stabilized again in the sulfuric acid under 100oC. The hybrid-stabilized fibers were carbonized at a temperature of 900°C. The thermal properties of hybrid-stabilized fibers were analyzed by a DSC and a TGA. The surface morphology, microstructure, and physical properties of the resulting carbon fibers were analyzed by SEM, XRD, and UTM, respectively. From the SEM, XRD, and mechanical strength test results, final fibers were identified as well-manufactured carbon fibers. |
