Cellulose nanofibers(CNF) have attracted much attention because of their high mechanical properties, renewability and potential biocompatibility. However, CNF is agglomerated by high polarity has a limitation in nanomaterials. This study aimed to investigate synthesis and surface treatment behavior of silica nanoparticles onto CNF. The adsorption behavior and silica particle size could be controlled by adjusting the synthesis conditions. Increasing the water content reduced the packing efficiency of the silica particles. Hydrophobic CNF/silica nanocomposites were modified using hexadexyltrimethoxysilane(HDTMS). The silica contents, molecular structure, morphology and contact angle were characterized for CNF/silca nanocomposites. As a result, The nanocomposites were confirmed that the silica content was about 55~60wt% and raspberry morphology. In addition, the CNF/silica/HDTMS nanocomposites of superhydrophobic showed a contact angle of about 160o. |
