제목 Surface Area Enhancement of Adamantane-Based Microporous Polymers by Postmodification
초록 Microporous polymers with mechanical stability and large surface areas are considered as promising materials for gas storage and separation. In this study, we synthesized microporous polymers based on the adamantane block via Suzuki coupling reaction and Sonogashira-Hagihara coupling reaction and investigated the effects of the post-modification on their surface areas. Carboxyl groups were introduced to the microporous polymers by Friedel-Crafts reaction with aromatic esters and subsequent hydrolysis. The carboxylated microporous polymers showed higher surface areas than original polymers, suggesting that more micropores were formed probably by hydrogen bonding between the carboxyl groups. Conversion of large pores into micropores by post-modification can be a promising way to increase the surface areas.
