제목 Thermal Melting Behavior of Biodegradable Poly(hydroxyalkanoate)s Studied by X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy
초록 The physical properties of poly(hydroxyalkanoate) (PHA) polymers have been receiving keen interest for their potential as biodegradable and biocompatible thermoplastics. To reduce the crystallinity and increase the flexibility of poly(hydroxybutyrate) (PHB), PHB-based copolymers, such as poly (3- hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyhexanote) P(HB-co-HHx), have the improved physical and mechanical properties compared with those of PHB homopolymer. Since the mechanical properties and chemical stability of a crystalline polymer strongly depend on the crystal structure and morphology, it is of importance to investigate the temperature-dependent molecular interaction for developing practical biodegradable materials. In this study, the temperature-dependent molecular interaction of P(HB-co-HHx) is carefully studied by using X-ray absorption spectroscopy and IR spectroscopy.
