In general, a two pack system of an OH functional acrylic polymer and an NCO functional crosslinker is used for automotive refinish coating. But for automotive refinish coating, fast curing of surface after coating application is requested. For the purpose of this request, dual cure system in combination of UV radiation curing and urethane curing was studied. Acrylic polymer with unsaturated double bond and hydroxy group was synthesized. This acrylic polymer was prepared by reaction of NCO functional isocyanate modified with 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate and hydroxy functional acrylic polymer. For a characterization of curing, Infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and 1H NMR were used. In case of Infrared spectroscopy, decay of IR band of isocyanate group was shown for coating application. In Raman spectroscopy and 1H NMR, unsaturated double bond was monitored. |
