Fabrication of Water-Dispersible Polyaniline-Poly(4-styrenesulfonate) Nanoparticles For Ink-Jet Printed Chemical Sensor Application |

A novel water-dispersible polyaniline-poly(4-styrenesulfonate) (PANI-PSS) nano-particles were fabricated using chemical oxidation polymerization . PANI-PSS with the average diameter of ca. 30 nm is highly dispersable due to the electrostatic interaction between positively charged PANI and negatively charged PSS. PANI-PSS nanoparticles could overcome the lack of processibility, which enabled direct application for ink-jet printed chemical sensor. This chemical sensor showed the unprecedented sensitivity (detection of ppb-scale NH3 gas) and rapid time response compared to the conventional PANI-based chemical sensors. |
