Structure-property Relationships for Partially Aliphatic Polyimides. |

The effect of monomer structure on polymer properties was studied for partially aliphatic polyimides based on alicyclic dianhydrides and aromatic diamines. Structures of the polyimides were confirmed by H1-NMR and FT-IR spectra. Solubility of the polyimides was tested in various organic solvents and thermal property of the polyimides was investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The results were correlated with the molecular arrangement of the polyimides that was studied by wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD). All these properties are understood on the basis of the structure of the polymimides. UV-visible spectra were obtained to evaluate the transparency of the polyimides. |
