Perfluorinated surfactants derived from PFOA have excellent surface activities such as lowering surface tension. However, they have been regulated in many industries due to their high bioaccumulation problem. In this study, for replacing the regulated materials 1-O-alkyl-3-O-fluoroalkyl glycerol type anionic surfactants are synthesized from intermediates of hybrid alcohols having a short fluorocarbon chain and are identified by NMR, FT-IR, MS and EDS. They are observed how the surface activities of the synthesized surfactants vary depending on the fluorocarbon chain length or the binding counterion. Physical properties and surface activities are measured. It was found that these novel anionic surfactants have superior surface activities compared to PFOA derivatives |
