Investigation of highly ring-strained cycloalkanes with manipulable click reactivity as active plasticizers served in azido-pendant polymers |

Ring structures embedded highly active plasticizers are synthesized by introducing ring structures since cyclic alkyl compounds are expected to be a potential energetic candidate. These active plasticizers (APs) are believed to offer efficient plasticization performance to azido prepolymer-based polyurethane (PU) processibility, and in turn transform the morphology from random dispersion into being partial pendant group of polymer backbone via chemical bonding with azide groups of prepolymer in PU curing process through Huisgen 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition. Rheology and miscibility between prepolymer and AP were conducted by viscosity and differential scanning calorimetry, respectively. Click reaction evaluated by 1H NMR between AP and azido prepolymer were verified that clickable reactivities of APs were manipulable by altering the distance between electron-withdrawing group (EWG) and terminal alkyne. Mechanical properties and thermal stabilities of AP/PU binders were also studied. |
