제목 Nanobiocatalysis for Microbial Decontamination and CO2 Utilization
초록 Enzymes have a great potential as an environmentally-friendly tool in solving various environmental issues, including microbial contamination and CO2 in atmosphere. However, the practical uses of enzymes have been limited by their poor stabilities and short lifetimes. This presentation will introduce the recent development of nanobiocatalysis stabilizing acylase and carbonic anhydrase, which can be used for antifouling and CO2 capture, respectively. Various nanostructured materials, such as mesoporous silica and polyaniline nanofibers were used for the development of stabilized enzyme immobilization. For example, acylase was immobilized into the mesoporous silica via two-step process of enzyme adsorption and crosslinking while crosslinked carbonic anhydrase was coated on polyaniline nanofibers via three steps of enzyme attachment, precipitation and crosslinking. Nanobiocatalysts of both acylase and carbonic anhydrase improved the enzyme stabilities, and were used in preventing the biofouling and efficiently capturing CO2, respectively. It is anticipated that nanobiocatalytic approaches can be employed for various enzyme applications by greatly extending the lifetime of enzymes.
