The series of PtSnPd ccatalysts were prepared by conventional impregnation method using sodium borohydride (NaBH4) as reducing agent. Further, alloy formation, chemical compositions, crystalline sizes and particle distributions of catalysts were determined by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX), respectively. From the CO stripping and ethanol electro-oxidation, the catalysts were confirmed to move to more negative values for the on-set oxidation potential as a third metal was added to PtSn/C. Furthermore, the maximum specific activity of the catalysts for ethanol electro-oxidation was found with Pt5Sn4Pd/C, 406.08 mAm-2.The poisoning rate of the Pt5Sn4Pd/C was 4.5 times lower than that of the PtSn/C. |
