제목 | TEMPOs Effect on the oxidation of alcohols |
초록 | Peracid (m-Cl-perbenzoic acid) oxidations of many kind of alcohols, in the presence of various TEMPOs and Bu4NX (X=Br, Cl) as an additive were carried out in methylene chloride. The products were analyzed by means of IR-, NMR-spectroscopies, GC-MS and LC-MS. As expected the corresponding aldehydes, ketons and acids are formed. The cyclization of diols was not proceeded well. In the case of 4-Methoxy-TEMPO and Bu4NCl identified mainly tri-butylamine, butyl-3-Cl-benzoate as byproducts and γ-n-amylbutylolactone which is suspected from the oxidation of glycerol and following coupling with n-butyl group and very small amounts of benzoic acid derivatives. Surprisingly, by LC-MS analysis we found that the 4-methoxy-TEMPO itself also was gradually oxidized to 4-OH-TEMPO -> 4-OXO-TEMPO -> TEMPO. The reaction mechanism was studied. |
