Electroactive hydrogels sense the physical, chemical, and biological environment and respond to external stimuli in a controllable way. They exhibits diverse mechanical movement through swelling, deswelling, and bending in response to various stimuli from the surrounding environment and can be driven by electric field. Electroactive hydrogel actuators have light weight, high flexibility, and indicated rapid reaction even at a small voltage, thereby it can be utilized in varied area like bio field, robots, sensors and microfluidics. In this study, we synthesized a series of 3D polymer network hydrogels containing ionic groups by UV irradiation. FT-IR and SEM measurement were examined in order to verify that the hydrogels were properly synthesized. To investigate physicochemical properties of electroactive hydrogel, their swelling ratio, mechanical strength, and electric-responsive behaviors under electric field were also determined. |
