Hybrid organic-inorganic light emitting diodes |
초록 |
We present an investigation of efficient, encapsulation-free hybrid light emitting diodes. In these diodes, solution processible mesoporous or compact metal-oxide layers have been used for electron injection and a thermally evaporated MoO3 layer for hole injection. Polyfluorene copolymers are used as the emissive organic component. Further to enabling effective charge injection, the metal-oxide inter-layers are very beneficial for the control of the in-plane waveguided optical modes in light emitting diodes (LEDs). We make use of the high refractive index of ZnO to confine these modes away from the absorbing ITO electrode, and include a nano-imprinted grating in the polymer layer to introduce distributed feedback and enhance optical out-coupling. This demonstrates the scope to use such architectures to improve the external efficiency of organic semiconductor LEDs, and opens new possibilities for the realization of polymer injection lasers. |
